6th Grade - Andy Warhol Inspired Pop Art Prints
Students kicked off the semester by reviewing color groups and learning about our featured artist for the lesson, Andy Warhol. We discussed the Pop Art movement in the 1960's and students were introduced to Warhols work in the advertising and art world. Using the primary, secondary, warm, cool, and complementary color groups students made prints of various animals. They began by sketching their animals in their sketchbooks using contour lines. They then redrew their drawings on foam sheets and used washable markers to make mono-prints, prints that can only be made one time, onto absorbent watercolor paper. They are such fast learners and did an incredible job on their first art project of the year!
